In this video message from the closing of the kick-off event of the #noprecariouswork project, CESI Secretary General Klaus Heeger emphasized the role of trade unions like CESI in promoting and protecting workers rights. ‘Precarious work needs to be countered through non- discriminatory access to labour and social rights, plus a strong role for interest representation via trade unions and social partners.’ His main points refer to the need of increasingly linking social protection to the individual, not to a contract. Secondly, he emphasized the importance of ensuring that equal treatment applies also to atypical jobs. Thirdly, effective interest representation should be ensured for all workers, whether they are in standard or non-standard forms of employment. Lastly but not least, a very clear legislative framework is needed in order to allow workers to have their rights granted
